BOY

97 min | NR
Inspired by his Oscar nominated short film, Taika Waititi’s BOY is set in 1984 in a rural community in New Zealand. At the center of the story is eleven year old Boy, a high–spirited adolescent obsessed with American pop culture and Michael Jackson. When his absent father returns from a stint in prison, Boy discovers a lovable loser instead of the adventurer he imagined. Incorporating dream sequences, fantasies, and animations, the film also boasts three elaborate musical numbers, based on Michael’s Jackson’s indelible music videos of the era, giving this charming film from the director of EAGLE VS SHARK a distinctive visual dimension.
